Meeting Santa

Aubri wasn't a fan of Santa. She wouldn't go near him at the mall, and her first parade she was pretty tense any time he came by. We took her to meet him and she gripped Jose and put her head on his shoulder and said "I'm sleeping" so she wouldn't have to sit with him. We didn't force it, but pointed him out a few times. Randomly she asked to go sit in his lap one day and started asking to go see him. We didn't have a chance to go, but one day while shopping in Walmart he was walking around. Aubri didn't waste anytime telling him she wanted "Dora presents". She stood next to him with Daddy for a cell phone picture.

When we learned that he would be at a local grocery store we decided to introduce her again. I didn't want to waste a trip to the mall, and it wasn't important enough to me to pay a ridiculous amount for a picture with him. Aubri still didn't sit in his lap but she talked to him and gave him knuckles. The grocery store background cracks us up, but we were stoked about the gift they gave her! Brandie and Savannah were with us and got in on the fun.

Funny thing- before Aubri was born we decided we wouldn't tell her about Santa or have her believe in him. Somehow we slipped in to telling her that he fills her stocking. We aren't making him a big deal -and he definitely doesn't get credit for the presents we bought!- but we've caved. Our reasoning for not telling her was that we wanted God to get all the credit as the only omnipotent, omnipresent being, and we didn't want to crush her when she found out it is a lie. We are figuring out this parenting thing as we go along I guess!
