There aren't too many couples who work together. Most people find out that Jose and I work together and their first response is, "I could never do that with my spouse!" or "How do you guys do it?" We just laugh and convince them that it really is easy.
Maybe it's because we worked together before we had any interest in each other. We actually both started on the same day (May 1, 2006), and sat in a room together filling out HR paperwork. I thought it was stange that he started teasing me and joking around (aka flirting) within a couple of minutes. I was dressed to impress with 2 inch high heels (that have since been retired) and when he opened the door for me he thought "wow she's tall" and I thought "wow he's short!" We were in training group together for a month (along with his mom!) and to be honest he did not impress me much.
Well we got assigned to the same unit, and our desks were separated by a partition, and since we work 40 minutes from home, we began carpooling. I guess that whole psychology theory of proximity is really true. It wasn't long before we liked each other.
So why am I writing all this? Because I am sitting at my desk, wanting a distraction but Jose is "sick" today. I'm so used to getting bored and walking over to his desk(He now sits on the opposite side of the office, through a maze of cubicles), or running into him at the fax machine, or emailing him asking what we are doing for lunch. I don't realize how much we talk throughout the day, until he isn't here! Our typical day starts off with 40 minutes together in the car, about 20 emails back and forth-some work related, taking lunch together, another 10 emails, one of us going to the others desk for advice, him coming to talk to my supervisor for advice, another 10 emails before the end of the day, then driving home together. Wow! And when he isn't here, I have a bunch of co-workers asking how he's doing, where he is at, do I know where he keeps_____, and what did he think about last nights Laker game!
I guess I'm pretty lucky, because for spending that much time with Jose, I'm still not tired of him!
